A joint security operation in Northern State has seized more than 150 thiourea mixers and large amounts of chemicals used in unregulated gold processing, according to the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company.

The campaign, carried out with the support of the Mineral Economy Security Department and Mining Security Police, targeted illegal mining activities that threaten both the economy and public safety. Authorities also dismantled thiourea-based gold extraction ponds in the Al-Khannaq market in Abri, Halfa locality.

Abdelrahman Mahjoub Al-Nazif, head of the company’s state office, confirmed that cases had been registered with Dongola police and referred to the prosecutor. He emphasized that the campaign is part of broader security and regulatory measures to protect Sudan’s mineral wealth and prevent harmful practices in the mining sector.
