Flash Flood Threat Prompts Red Alert Across Key States

A red alert has been issued for Khartoum, White Nile, and Nile River states as authorities anticipate severe flash flooding over the weekend. The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation’s Early Warning Unit said increased flows from the Blue and White Niles are expected to raise river levels, posing a significant threat to communities along the Nile belt.
The danger period is expected to last from Saturday through Monday, with the potential for floodwaters to inundate farmland and valleys. Officials advised residents to relocate their livestock, crops, and essential supplies to higher ground, and to secure food and drinking water in water-resistant containers.
Beyond property damage, the ministry highlighted life-threatening risks, warning that floodwaters could interact with electricity lines. Citizens were urged to take precautionary measures and be prepared to evacuate if ordered.
