Sudan and Turkey are moving to deepen energy cooperation with the revival of the Kalanayeb Electricity Project in Port Sudan, the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum announced Sunday.
Energy Minister Mu’tasim Ibrahim Ahmed emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating the long-delayed project, highlighting financing agreements secured with the African Export-Import Bank during his recent Cairo visit.
Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yildiz said the project reflects the strength of Sudanese-Turkish ties, noting that Turkey has major global companies in the energy sector ready to invest in Sudan. He added that reviving the power sector is crucial for Sudan’s stability and development at this stage.
