Dr. Jibril Ibrahim Commends Customs Forces After Major Coastal Seizure
Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, has pledged increased support to Sudan’s Customs Forces, stressing their vital role in defending the nation’s economy and protecting communities from criminal activity.
His remarks came during an inspection visit to the Red Sea State, where the Anti-Smuggling Administration, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service, successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle illegal substances and weapons into the country by sea.
Officials confirmed the seizure of 400 kilograms of crystal meth, 2 kilograms of heroin, two automatic rifles, 188 rounds of ammunition, and a Thuraya communication device. The discovery exposed an organized network using maritime routes for criminal operations.
While touring the Transit district headquarters in Port Sudan, the minister praised the professionalism of the officers involved. He underlined that drug trafficking and weapons smuggling have devastating effects on families, young people, and the national economy, and called for continued regional and international collaboration to confront the growing threat.
