The Central Bank of Sudan announced that its electronic clearing system will be activated in the coming days as part of broader efforts to restore financial stability. While visiting Gezira State, Governor Amna Mirghani stated that the economic situation is under severe pressure due to targeted destruction of infrastructure and banking facilities. She outlined a recovery roadmap that includes securing regional and international financial support to assist local banks.

Mirghani urged Gezira State officials to submit detailed feasibility studies for priority development projects. She also reviewed arrangements for funding the agricultural season with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture. According to her, revitalizing banking services is essential for rebuilding confidence and supporting productive sectors.

The Governor highlighted the Bank’s plan to attract microfinance institutions and expand its presence nationwide through new branches. She confirmed that the Central Bank intends to resume operations from Khartoum within one month, following her inspection tours of Nile River and Khartoum states and upcoming visits to other regions.

Gezira State’s Acting Governor praised the resilience of Central Bank employees in Wad Madani, noting that they were among the first to return after the city’s liberation. He pointed to signs of recovery in security and economic activity and emphasized ongoing industrial and agricultural progress. The Governor of the Gezira Scheme provided an update on preparations for the winter season and welcomed the recent decision to scrap credit inquiry fees, which he said would ease access to financing.
