Security forces in Atbara have seized over 50 kilograms of smuggled gold in an operation led by the General Intelligence Service.

River Nile State Governor Mohamed Al-Badawi Abdel-Majid, joined by the state’s Intelligence Director Yasir Ali Bashir and members of the Atbara security committee, reviewed the confiscated gold at the Intelligence Service headquarters.

The Governor stressed that gold smuggling poses a serious security and economic threat, calling for tougher punishments and new laws to curb the practice. He praised the Intelligence Service for its vigilance and commitment, describing their work as vital to national security.

To encourage continued dedication, the Governor announced rewards for the forces involved in the operation, noting that this was the second gold seizure carried out in Atbara under his tenure.
