Khartoum Looks to Moscow: Sudan Pushes for Strategic Partnership

Sudan is moving to cement Russia as a cornerstone partner in its economic recovery, with talks advancing on cooperation between the two countries’ central banks.

Speaking in Moscow at the launch of the eighth Sudanese-Russian Ministerial Committee, Deputy Minerals Minister Hind Metana described relations between the two nations as strong and full of untapped potential. She stressed that harnessing natural resources effectively would accelerate Sudan’s path toward growth and prosperity.

Ambassador Mohammed Al-Ghazali highlighted the importance of deepening collaboration during Sudan’s reconstruction period, while the Deputy Foreign Minister emphasized Russia’s supportive role in the UN Security Council.

Renad Aglawin, representing Sudan’s Ministry of Natural Resources, pointed to Russia as a trusted ally, expressing confidence that cooperation in trade, energy, and mining will soon be reinforced by a direct partnership between the countries’ central banks.
