Sudan’s Ministry of Finance has hailed the multi-billion-dollar projects carried out by China in the country as “landmark achievements” that have significantly boosted infrastructure and development.

Mohammed Bashar, Undersecretary for Planning, highlighted major projects such as Sudan’s oil industry, the Merowe Dam, the Roseires Dam heightening, and the Friendship Hall, stressing their importance in strengthening shared interests and improving citizens’ lives. He affirmed the ministry’s commitment to deepening strategic cooperation with Beijing.

The remarks came during a farewell ceremony for outgoing Chinese Chargé d’Affaires Zhang Xianghua, whom Bashar credited with advancing bilateral ties. Ambassador Mahmoud Hamza, head of the Asian Department at the Foreign Ministry, also praised China’s role, noting that September will mark 10 years of economic partnership.

In response, Zhang described his tenure as “highly meaningful” and voiced confidence that his successor would continue building cooperation. “We look forward to further reconstruction and development alongside our Chinese partners,” Hamza added.
