Sudan, South Sudan Reinforce Oil Sector Ties Amid Challenges
Sudan and South Sudan reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in the oil and energy sectors despite ongoing challenges. Sudan’s Energy Minister, Moatasem Ibrahim Ahmed, said on Sunday that obstacles will not stop joint efforts to maintain pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment facilities.
In Port Sudan, Ahmed met with South Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Monday Semaia Kumba, stressing continued electrical connections and offering full support in technical expertise and personnel training. Both sides also discussed coordination between companies and strategies to attract international investment.
Sudan’s Ambassador to Juba, Issam Karrar, described the visit as historic — the first South Sudanese Foreign Minister visit since the war — highlighting the strong brotherly ties and extensive cooperation between the neighboring nations.
