World Bank Reaffirms Commitment to Sudan’s Development Agenda
World Bank President Ajay Banga has reiterated the Bank’s readiness to assist Sudan in reconstruction and development, confirming that intervention programs may begin within two months. The focus will be on health, education, and environmental projects aligned with Sudan’s national recovery priorities.
Sudan’s Minister of State for Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdel Daim, noted that the country is advancing economic and institutional reforms to support its civilian transition and rebuild key sectors. These reforms, he said, are crucial for attracting external investment and international assistance.
At the African Group meetings in New York, Banga announced a new Bank-led initiative to transform African agriculture through infrastructure development and partnerships linking private investors with smallholder farmers. The initiative aims to engage 250 million farmers across the continent by 2030.
The announcement signals renewed international engagement with Sudan’s reform process, as the World Bank positions itself as a strategic partner in the country’s long-term recovery and growth.
